Lammas, also known as lughnasad (pronounced loo-NAS-ah), is the first of the three sabbats celebrating the harvests of the year. Lammas falls on August 1st and is about halfway between Litha (summer solstice) and Mabon (autumn equinox). Farmers would harvest their grain during Lammas and it was said that harvesting sooner meant that last year's crop had run out. Lammas is a perfect time to celebrate with loved ones and bake delicious treats. It is also a time to thank Mother Earth for her bounty and to express gratitude. Myrrh can be used to open yourself up to spiritual awakening and meditation, while rosemary is good for purification. At the bottom of your candle you will find a green aventurine crystal, which can be used in your craft for grounding, stability, holding gratitude, and connecting to Mother Earth.
